Summer Weekend Paris

The city of Paris has much to offer that you can come back again and again. Annemarie and I stayed last weekend three summer days. The Thalys brought us within 3 hours in Gare du Nord to our hotel a stone's throw away an ideal base to explore the city further.

The hotel was ideally located within walking distance from Gare du Nord and right next to metro station Louis Blanc. For a city hotel was also good standard. At breakfast there were even delicious to eat pancakes!

The first day we started well and we visited the Louvre (where it was quite busy) and the Eiffel Tower by day and by night.

Day two was impressive business district La Defense's turn. We were under the "Grand Arche" and had such a wonderful insight into this ultra-modern part of town.

The Champs d'Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe could also not lacking in our city.

Then we made stops at successively Notre Dame, the Dome des Invalides, the tomb of Napoleon and the army museum.

The last day we took the subway to Montmartre. A very nice neighborhood that can best be described as a village in a city. From the Sacre Coeur, we walked on to the Place du Tetre here and let us through one of the many painters capture. See the results!

Finally we went to the Cimetière de Montmartre, a special cemetery, where many famous French people are buried. Then it was time for the Thalys home. Three days are over and so we did not all see, but it shows enough reason to once again return.
