Lining up for the iPad

I had never in my life stood in line at a product launch, but today it was still far. The Apple iPhone was released in the Netherlands with about 100 peers I stood obediently in line at 7:45 in the morning to the Media Markt.

It was a crazy face all those men (for they were all men) are so hopeful to see the big electronics store. To the enthusiasm and the crowd you would think the devices were given away free, but that was not true because there was just $ 499 be ticking for the cheapest one. But that did not spoil the fun because it was the iPad, the revolutionary tablet computer from Apple for months on where I had pleased.

It was a beautiful moment when the doors of the store opened. There was a certain tension in the group master. Could it happen to get the coveted gadget?

The entrance to the Media Markt in Zoetermeer is formed by an escalator and the iPad buyers trooped through this narrow entrance to the top, before a straight line and in swift pace through the retail giant to walk to a point where the shelf with the iPads be found.

Fortunately for all attendees was held by the device scarce deemed so great that everyone could get what he wanted. The few benefits were now ringing a little ridicule.

I too was a little 10 minutes later outside the desired merchandise. Happy as a child I was allowed to spend 599 euros in a shop. I was not here for nothing for up to 7:30!

The row in Amsterdam. So it looked even from some in Zoetermeer.
