The Atomium is a well known Belgian monument and symbol of Brussels. Built in 1958 as part of the World, it was dedicated to the technical knowledge and skills of the Belgian architecture to show. As part of the 10th anniversary of our hosting provider NXS , I was invited to have lunch in this particular building.

The trip went to the Atomium by Thalys. I had never traveled this fast train and must say it was very comfortable. A must for those quick to Brussels, Antwerp or Paris wants to go.

Arriving at their destination only really struck me how big the Atomium is. The upper sphere is at an altitude of 102 meters. In 2004 the monument was renewed and that's good to see. The bulbs shine you actually meet. The special feature of this structure is that you can walk through completely. The spheres are connected to each other via escalators. To get you into the top bulb out, you step in a fast elevator (with see-through).

It's amazing how much space there is in the bulbs, which together have 240 sqm floor area. We used 50 men with lunch in the upper sphere, where you also have a nice 360 degree view of what was undoubtedly the most beautiful part of the otherwise drab city of Brussels. Because it had snowed the view was even more special.

An enthusiastic guide knew a lot to say about the environment, the Atomium and the 1958 World's Fair. But because there was enough time, our tour was unfortunately limited to a sharply observed 'run by the balls.

There can be no further reaction to be given.
