Some 18 years ago, in late 1990 to be exact, I became fascinated by the eleven as MSX computer which I got from my father. It was an amazing device. In particular, the ability to write there own games tickled my fancy.

Through the internet you can now find thousands of games, but during that time I had only a handful, mind you on a cassette tape. More was not there and I had no money to the store to buy new games. So, I began experimenting with the built-in programming MSX-Basic . When most kids my age were outside playing marbles as I typed terms and GOSUB VPOKE together.

In MSX-Basic I wrote about 26 games. Later when I MSX2 was I made more. Imagine there is not too much for the specifications of the computer limited the opportunities: 3.5 MHz of usable memory and 25Kb. By comparison, most photographs today are more than ten times larger and there was then in the whole game! But although I kept trying to always try something new to invent.

I've always kept my games at that time but could not get much more with it. Recently however, I have a good MSX emulator found, they finally determined that I could put in a movie and some screenshots .

Watch a short video with some game footage of the various games:

In hindsight I might not have so much time stabbing. Playing outside with your friends is indeed a lot more social. In my later career as a games developer had gained knowledge and experience, however, of great value.

I was addicted to Zanac (with a rocket through space shooting) on our MSX2. Funny that you have created games. I had not much interest in when and what did not go beyond simple standard msx-basic things.

Zanac was cool indeed, I also played a lot. :)
