The local Rabobank I was with Bowie invited to look at the Rotterdam Cycling 6-Day . This is track cycling and although I'm normally not a fan of cycling, I was curious how the track cycling in his work.
Advance, I asked myself the question: where do I know of the track cycling? Only television, where sporadic bursts pass. Dutch performance is generally good. Theo Bos, sportsman of the year 2006. Leontien van Moorsel, Olympic champion, those names come to mind. Riding around in a circuit style, not typical spectator sport.
The poster for this evening was nevertheless promising, Theo Bos would be there, Eric Zabel, Leon van Bon, Danny Stam. Famous names, even for someone who is not actively cycling follows.
The reception was very generous. Lots of good food in three courses in the special VIP room ahoy. A little chat with gray elderly gentlemen. And then, round belly, grab a free beer and sit on the grandstand.
Arriving in the hall, was the first thing that struck me and you never see on television, the special section in the middle of the road. There were rich, surrounded by the bike path, their bellies full of food and they let the champagne flow freely. I did not really feel like they were there for the bikes.

What is also striking at the track cycling is that literally everything is sponsored. On the runway everywhere advertising. There are bright ambient light installations except for the necessary project company. The stadium speaker joins in and the riders from the sponsored cycling teams should be expanded after their rounds on the picture with various sponsors. Really each spoke of their bicycle is therefore sponsored. It is certainly interesting income.
There is a good show of it, what movie below makes clear. The sprint was a great light show staged and each rider had his own tune on which he might try the time of his predecessor (s) to improve. There was once a job driving record, impressive to see.
Nice are also several songs that are driven. Derny, Madison, Elimination Race, sprint, sprint torque, trial, torque trial. This variety keeps it interesting, though it was not always easy to follow who is now doing well and who was not.
Theo Bos was clearly the big man of the track cycling. When it was announced he lived at the hall. But it was not very enthusiastic audience to get. What do you like almost no one really comes to cycling, but has been invited by sponsors. Wolter Kroes tried to get some atmosphere, but this gig king failed. During his performance, we found it also enough and went to his house again.
