Calve closes in Delft

The news that the Calve Delft factory is closing , for me came as a total surprise. The factory has been there since 1883 and the Calvé brand name has become synonymous with Delft. Shame that this tradition must yield to the company big money.
Calve raises for me personal memories. In particular, the time I was allowed as a young boy with my grandfather Henk worked in the factory. I was shown around by the huge factories and got to see where the peanut butter was made, what a great impression on me. Henk Grandpa was 40 years of service chief, and he therefore had its own department. Proudly he gave me a jar of peanut butter. I can tell you that even Evert van Benthem never eaten such delicious peanut butter has.
The bridge is a concept of Calve and the buildings from afar. It is part of the history of Delft. The plant spread Calve also a characteristic odor of the city, which for many Delft as the scent of homecoming was experienced. Personally I will not miss. Well hilarious was the fact that workers of Calve and yeast factory (located in Delft) together always denied that the stench of their factory originated.
It's really incredible that they are going to move this plant. Expensive production, the main reason, but I can not imagine. It works because only 170 people. Almost everything is automated and costly factory move. All buildings are razed, more than one hundred years of history is lost. I am glad that my grandfather does not have to worry anymore.
The underlying reason seems to be that the land on which the factory has become worth a lot. So it really is purely a financial issue. The city of Delft tough calls this "innovation". As with the Bacinol building . I mention the demolition of the town. They'll build another row of luxury boxes of bricks at the location where the factory once stood. When is this short-term culture of greed and grab one time?

I heard it on radio1 this morning. The first thought popped in my mind that this is again just a financial issue would be. What you also aanhaald. The money masters have this whole country in their hands, it is unfortunately no different. We all do it to them with that awful spending sprees and so are all guilty of the loss. Day plant, day playground, day culture, live the globalization, welcome infantile consumption slave.

Hi Jer,
Stukkie Beautiful, Granddad would Groos on you.
Nice photo
A pity, nostalgia and tradition no longer apply.
First the cable plant, Bacinol due time, next year Calvé and now only the yeast factory yet, because they will also not spared. Everything in the context of progress.
The bridge of Calve was also famous for its ride off for your driving license.
Mom Greetings

Sigh, again something so beautiful that will disappear. Decided by "gentlemen" who do not even know who Arretje Nof, but only speak the language of money and can not understand his sentiments. Decision makers who are happy to have a number of additional workers to send home, to further automate and thus more profit. Too bad those of Calve Peanut butter so nice twist, otherwise, consumers like you and me a powerful weapon for that decision back to whistle .....
