Las Vegas: city of entertainment and fun. American bastion of capitalist decadence, glamor. In this gambling paradise, I traveled last weekend with the "Netdirect Site Partner Challenge". How this journey was read here.
Friday
Friday was the day, the trip to Las Vegas was launched! From Schiphol airport gathering we left with the entire group of 19 persons together via a transatlantic flight to Washington DC.
The extra legroom of United Economy Plus, the surprisingly good culinary delights and smooth flight we were unable to stop after an hour or ten were really tired on arrival in DC. There, we were additionally subjected to very strict controls which Americans seem to attach importance. Shoes, belts, sweaters, it was all out. Making a fingerprint and form filling with trick questions like "have you ever been Involved or are you planning to Employ any terrorist activities" promoted morale at this stage. All this delay ensured that a Starbucks is the only memorable is that I have seen in Washington.
The second flight in a smaller unit Airbus took us to 'beautiful' Las Vegas, as the pilot announced to us excited. The weather was clear on arrival and immediately we had a wonderful view of "The Strip" from the plane. The hotel was located a stone's throw from the airport to be located. But who really could not wait at the airport were immediately many not too subtly placed slots available.
We were picked up in a thick minibus equipped with luxury leather sofas and a built-in minibar. The driver pulled out a bottle of champagne and we could toast our arrival in style in Las Vegas. Comfortable riding on the broad five-lane road from Vegas, we had our champagne taste good and we watched the eyes.
The hotel where we ourselves could house bears the melodious name "New York, New York." This hotel has a huge theater, arcade, casino, roller coaster around the hotel, replica of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and a small village of shops and eateries. This first evening we first our spacious rooms and after a short clean-up we first explored the 'hotel'. One thing was clear: there are so many gigantic casino slots that you can not see. A number of companions, the undersigned's seat, decided to leave and amused till the wee hours in the numerous entertainment that this hotel has to offer.
Saturday
The next morning, breakfast at 9:30 am already served. The choice of including thick pancakes, fried eggs and bacon, fatty sausages and sweet pastries gives an idea of what's to eat. It tasted this breakfast after all the adventures and hardships of the previous day fine and it was a good opportunity in a group to chat.
After breakfast we were picked up with a very special means of transport: a prolonged Hummer Limo is parked ceremoniously to the hotel. This huge tank of a car was quite decadent with neon lights, a heavy sound, mini bars, LCD screens and armored glass. As you drive on the Strip, listening to the perfectly appropriate in this picture "Yo Yo Ya'All Nigger Bitches Pimp My Ass" music, we got the real Las Vegas feeling really tackle.
The meters long Hummer limo took us to several hotels on the Strip, where we could walk around a quarter to impress to do. The immense Mandalay Bay, the pyramid-shaped Luxor hotel and the kitsch Venetian hotel were affected in this way. Each hotel began with endless rows of slot machines and gambling establishments in really absurd quantities.
Luxor impressed with the enormous pyramidal structure of the hotel, lamps, even on the moon should be seen, a huge sphinx in front, tinted Egyptian statues and lavish marble. Naturally, everything is fake and plastic, because good taste is the Americans apparently strange. In the Venetian hotel unfolded even a complete Venetian village. Again, everything but glamor. The blue sky is painted on the roof, the distinctive pods are mechanically driven, marble and tiles are made of a laminate type.
In this hotel began spending free afternoon, we mainly use in separate groups by a walk along The Strip and to the various brand stores and hotels to visit. A beautiful fountain show and the broad avenues were impressive. The streets were filled with bizarre expensive cars and separate people. Mexicans on every street corner shared cards from which we could acquire knowledge of many hookers for $ 35 within 20 minutes in your hotel room be delivered. Even that is Las Vegas.
Despite finding the most comfortable outdoor life in Las Vegas within the hotels and casinos to play. It was hardly possible to find a terrace outside. Before you had really in an air conditioned room with artificial light and artificial cloudy blue hemeldak. A decent sandwich was not for sale. Fatty and sweet mess had us on his feet. But admittedly, it was a small price compared to the other-worldly experience that Las Vegas offered. Late afternoon we walked to the Tropicana hotel, where we in a 50-story glass elevator climbed.
In the evening we gathered in a restaurant to eat buffet in a pleasant meal together scratching. After dinner was a Cirque du Soleil on the program. A huge hall in the hotel was built specially for this performance. Incredible acrobatics, uninterrupted spectacular show with bizarre large pieces of scenery, light and sound (even sound came out of our chairs!) Created a memorable and impressive experience. Despite this high-quality entertainment, it was sometimes difficult at this stage the eyes open. The jet lag hit mercilessly now in our group. Fortunately most of us knew the full account to do full justice to this spectacle.
Free to spend the evening we spent in the various clubs and cafes in the hotels are housed. The first dance cafe that we visited had its own brewery. The beer flowed freely and tasted excellent. Then, part of the group to Club Rio, a club which is located on the 52nd floor of the Rio Hotel. The rest (including myself) decided to grab some sleep along.
Sunday
It too early breakfast (8:30 am) we shared this time in the restaurant Chin Chin with an excellent buffet. The plans for the rest of the day unfolded and both were walkers of the previous evening as the fresher site partners who let themselves get caught up on sleep had this breakfast taste good.
After breakfast we spent together visiting the Stratosphere Tower. This hotel, over 300 meters high, offering magnificent views of Vegas from the 107th floor. Top of this huge tower there were also three attractions: a tower that shoots you up and drop, a carousel with chairs over the abyss and a cart itself obliquely downwards and stops abruptly. Very commercial thought had already bought the tickets below. Once above the height was still pretty impressive. The pinwheel was even a bridge too far for everyone. The other attractions were still restrained by some daredevils. The view from the roof of the Stratosphere Tower was certainly beautiful.
The afternoon was free again as the previous day to complete. This possibility was alternately used to get some sleep, extensive shopping, a trip to 'Down Town', a place at the table or try one of the too numerous casinos. A select group of people (excluding myself) made a 500 dollar but fabulous helicopter flight over Las Vegas and the nearby Grand Canyon. This afternoon I tried the Roller Coaster at the hotel. This trip was very worthwhile.
Late afternoon we gathered at the Treasure Island hotel for a pirate show to do. The pirates were generally scantily clad and of the female sex. The dinner we ate in Vegas Hotel and ventured then many of us a chance in the inevitable casino. It is worth mentioning that I have less than $ 875 from a random slot machine managed to get. Not bad if you ask me! The night erupted in the nightclub Rio, where we entered the dance floor on top of the building.
Around an hour or three were still surprisingly most of Vegas nightlife closed. The casinos were of course still open and we eventually found a bar in the hotel where we while drinking beer, whiskey and other alcoholic beverages for the rest of the night just fine by disclosure. Some die-hards (the undersigned included it this time) beat the night and kept their sleep for the flight. Other partners site here took their well deserved sleep with it.
Monday / Tuesday
The next morning, checked out and there was the long flight to the Netherlands to start again. The upbeat, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere that gave way to Las Vegas featured a printed somber line of people this paradise of capitalism clearly were leaving. The journey took this time via Chicago. At Chicago Airport was ominously clear that "Security Level Orange" was brought by the U.S. government. Fortunately the damned terrorists are not aiming at us this time and the flight went smoothly.
After a joint farewell and deserved compliments to the address of Netdirect went perfectly for the journey, this unforgettable company was really over. Goodbye Beautiful Las Vegas!
